Note
The music begin as a slow and staggered accumulation of soft, scratching sounds. As these sounds gather, they begin expressing themselves as unique and disparate punctuations. During this, a uniform flexing and folding of time emerges. The world waxes and wanes, morphing into visceral waves that crash and fold. Suddenly we’re dropped into absolute rhythmic unison - an angular and jarring series. One by one the sounds retreat into a bubbling, frothing atmosphere: a hushed, subdued, fatigued state. Each sound proceeds to crawl back to its scratching origins, then return to the ether. My truest feelings with this piece is for it to feel alive, like a living, breathing organism that compresses and fluctuates. We should always feel like the music is breathing.
